I love everything about this bench, it is easy to assemble, it is so cheap, and it looks fantastic. This lovely outdoor bench requires no hammer, no nails, no sanding, and really no carpentry skills at all. All you have to do is buy some cinder blocks, some four by four long pieces of wood, and put the whole thing together by using a very simple stacking method. Within one hour you will have a gorgeous bench that looks absolutely amazing. The only pre-planning you need to think about is deciding where you want to place your bench. When you find that nice shady spot where the bench is going to serve your needs best, just build it right there. You can move the bench, but that will involve taking it apart, but that really isn’t the end of the world, it is just better if you measure and really think about where this bench should go to avoid having to move it. Just find a space that’s level and make this dream come true.

Materials:

• PL900 (or your favorite construction adhesive to bond blocks together)
• 6 (4 x 4) pieces of wood
• 16 cinder blocks
• Cushions, pillows, and candles (if you want to dress it up)

Directions:

In this awesome video tutorial, you will learn to construct the cinder block frame using PL900 adhesive that you will let dry for 24 hours.

Then, you will add your four by four wooden poles and that is all, my friends! You have yourself a wonderful bench!

This is one of the easiest and cheap furniture projects I have ever found.

You can find all your leather needs at the Tandy Leather Company in most cities, but Michael’s Craft Store has many leather craft supplies as well. You must remember to use your Michael’s coupon that can be found online by simply typing in Michael’s coupons into your browser. You will pull up the coupons of the day and the cashier will just scan your phone. They will not tell you bu you can also stack coupons, so tell the cashier to scan them all. If you don’t have a Tandy Leather in your city, you can always order online, their products are outstanding and they are always willing to help guide you through the leather making process.

• Small piece of veg tan leather (you can find small scrap pieces at Tandy Leather at super cheap prices)

• Leather glue (this will easily hold a leather project together without any sewing)

In this awesome video tutorial, you will learn how to construct this leather mason jar sleeve in a step by step process using a few simple leather tools and glue.

Then you will be given all types of helpful tips along the way such as using a lighter to seal your stitching. Remember the leather glue is super strong and you won’t need to do any stitching if you don’t want to, the stitching here is purely decorative.

Chicken nuggets are so delicious and so many people are not wanting to go to a fast-food restaurant and wanting to get back to basic natural food preparation and eating it just makes so much sense to make your own food items. I went searching on Youtube and found this excellent chicken nugget recipe by Tiffin Box and I knew immediately I had to make it. I was so happy that I got a food processor for Christmas last year because to make a real copycat version of a chicken nugget you must chop the chicken up and reconstitute it into a big patty then bread it, then let your nuggets chill to make then set and fry them up to a golden crispy crunch.

Ingredients:

• Boneless chicken breast
• 500 grams of white bread
• 4 slices of ginger paste
• 1/2 tablespoon garlic paste
• 1/2 tablespoon soy sauce
• 1 tablespoon white pepper powder
• 1/2 tablespoon paprika powder
• 1/2 teaspoon salt
• 1  egg (medium size)
• 1 tablespoon milk
• 1 cup of breadcrumbs (salt and pepper the breadcrumbs to taste)

Directions:

In this excellent video tutorial, you will be guided step by step to prep your chicken breast meat by grinding up all the ingredients in the food processor. Then you will make a big patty on a cutting board then cut small nuggets out of the reconstituted chicken meat.

Then, you will dredge your lovely mini chicken nuggets in the homemade bread crumb mixture and then deep fry in your favorite variety of cooking oil until the nuggets are a crispy golden brown.

I really can’t wait to try this recipe.

I recently found this video on Youtube by Coffee With My Sunshine and she goes through the method of making this beautiful craft step by step and makes it look absolutely effortless. The mason jar is covered with delta cream coat, mod podge, and craft paint in a nautical coastal type of color. Then you get a great lesson in nautical macrame to really give your coastal painted jar the full effect of the ocean and the outcome is nothing short of superb.

Materials:

• Jute twine (from Dollar Tree)
• A mason jar
• Craft paint
• Mod Podge
• Delta brand cream coat
• A hot glue gun

Directions:

In the video, you will learn how to prep your mason jar with Delta Creamcoat, Mod Podge, and craft paint, you will let that completely dry and then you begin cutting your twine and arranging it around the painted jar with the assistance of your trusty hot glue gun to get ready to begin the netting part of the tutorial.

Then after you tie the net in he macrame knots, you will be instructed to secure the net at the bottom with a rope ring and clip all the ends.

Cajun food from the wonderfully unique state of Louisiana is probably my favorite style of food in the entire world, so when I found this recipe by Coop Can Cook on Youtube, I knew I had to cook these immediately. The recipe is super easy and really fun to make because there are only four steps to this recipe and the first step is to use Zatarain’s injectable marinade to inject your turkey wings and then in step two you place the injected wings in a plastic bag overnight to let the marinade really soak in. In step three, you will season the turkey wings and step four is to just deep fry them for 14 minutes and that is it!

Ingredients:

• 4 turkey wings
• Zatarain’s turkey injector marinade
• Hot sauce (your favorite kind)
• Oil (for frying)
• Cajun or Creole seasoning
• Salt (to taste)
• Pepper (to taste)

Directions:

In the video, you will learn how to fill your turkey syringe and also told how and where to inject the turkey wings for the best results.

Then you will continue through the steps of marinating the wings overnight, seasoning them, and deep-frying the wings for about 14 to 15 minutes till golden brown on the outside and completely done on the inside. 

This Cajun turkey wings are really delicious and taste great cold, so don’t be afraid to make more than you need because you can always eat them later. I like to keep cold turkey wings in the fridge and slice them up later for turkey salad, which is great with this type of highly seasoned recipe.

I was searching on Youtube for an easy quilt to make and I found this great four square quilt idea from The Midnight Quilt Show channel. The tutorial for this quilt was so easy that literally be made in an evening. I love quilting all year round, but making what will become family heirlooms in the Springtime is very important to me because spring is traditionally the time of new beginnings and I love seeing that reflected in my art projects. So I decided to get a later cake pack in a beautiful Spring-themed array of brightly colored florals and try my hand at making this wonderful four square design. This is just one of The Midnight Quilt Show’s beautiful projects that have an easy to understand patterns and methods, this Youtube channel is full of great ideas.

Materials:

• A sewing machine
• Fabric
• A ruler
• A rotary cutter

Directions:

In this excellent video tutorial, you will learn to cut these simple squares from your layer cake fabrics put these squares together in an attractive alternating pattern. This method is so easy you will literally sail through this project at an alarming rate.

There is only one other pattern here that you will need to make and that is a very simple quarter square that really adds wonderful detail to this extraordinary quilt.

I am so glad I found this simple four square quilt pattern, I cannot wait to make it.

Just recently I discovered a really awesome spray painter made from a soda bottle and an old nozzle on a hairspray can. This tutorial looked super easy so I really wanted to share it.

• 1 old recycled soda bottle
• 1 The nozzle from an old hairspray can
• A bike tire valve
• Metal epoxy glue
• An air pump

Directions:

In this video, you will learn to remove the nozzle from the hairspray can and attach it to the soda bottle lid. 

Then, you will be guided step by step to make this awesome paint sprayer out of your old soda bottle.

I am from the coast of Texas and I’ve been through many weather events and one thing I do know all too well is that you never know when the power may go out. Even an ice storm in the winter months can affect the power by knocking down lines. How Nikela is helping stop the spread of Covid-19

During his recent beehive project maintenance check Moses found the farmers very concerned about the spread of Covid-19. The Coronavirus is slithering its ugly tentacles everywhere!

Tanzania, in East Africa, has less than 20 confirmed cases to-date. However, in a country with limited health care and economic power the Covid-19 threat is very real. Moses lives in Arusha, the country’s third largest city with a population of over 400,000. Over 700,000 inhabitants when you include the surrounding area. The beehive project is in the surrounding area, outside of the Arusha National Park where elephant, buffalo, leopard and many varieties of plains game find protection.

Its in these border villages, skirting the Reserve, where the majority of the human wildlife conflicts occur. In the village of Lendoiya the elephants are being successfully kept out by beehive fences. This beehive project began mid-2019. To date Nikela has sponsored 56 beehives. Farmers are thrilled with the results. Not only are their crops thriving they enjoy harvesting honey. It’s a human wildlife conflict method that really works in this area.

It was on his last beehive maintenance run that Moses found the farmers worried about the spread of Covid-19. True to form Moses and his team figured out how to help.

“Due to the ongoing Coronavirus, that’s also in Tanzania (affected only 13) currently. We decided to keep our farmers safe from the virus by providing them with water buckets designed for washing hands. These kind of buckets are all over Africa by now. Outside offices and shops in town and cities in Tanzania. The government insists on hand washing and cleanliness everywhere. So we bought “hand washing buckets” to help our farmers benefiting the beehive conservation project, keep them safe by making sure they wash their hands and stay safe from Corona virus.”

No, it’s not real time! It’s from our last visit about a year ago. With the world and our lives in turmoil with Coronavirus a bit of happy is very much in order. Grab a cup of tea and sit back as you take a virtual safari with us.

We start our day before sunrise. The Crocodile Bridge Gate opens at dawn and were ready to spot some wildlife driving our trusty old Land Rover.
Our first sighting… a lone Giraffe and his passengers. How many Oxpeckers do you see enjoying ‘breakfast’?

A bit hard to determine in the light of dawn. We’re no experts, but it appears to be a Tawny Eagle watching for his breakfast.

The sun begins to brighten up the bush.

There’s just something about silhouetted trees isn’t there?

More Giraffe. A curious youngster. See his passenger?

And mum… and of course, her own very own oxpeckers.

A drive in the Kruger is never complete without seeing Impala. What’s this with all these Oxpeckers?

Unless really close these Black-Bellied Bustards are hard to spot. Unless they’re vocalizing of course.

A Warthog.

Must be time for a mid morning nap! This lone Wildebeest is enjoying the warm sunshine.

In the Kruger National Park you can only get out of your vehicle in designated areas. This is at a hide.

Spending time in a hide is both peaceful and exciting.

You never know what you’ll spot in a hide. We sure weren’t expecting this Boom Slang right next to the viewing area.

A Lilac Breasted Roller. A bit more serene to spot.

Then there’s always a Crocodile!

Once on the road again we spot Zebra.

A lone Elephant bull. Best to keep our distance.

Along the river we find the most wildlife today.



Even one of our favorite… the Goliath Heron. The largest heron.

Right there fishing from the bridge we find a Giant Kingfisher.

Moving away from the river we spot a Vulture nest.

Its getting warm now. This Kudu bull is resting and chewing his cud in the semi shade.

A Spotted Hyena also escaping the heat.

We reach Skukuza Camp and its time for us to have some lunch in the shade.

A few weeks ago tourism in Africa came to a screeching halt due to the Covid-19 Pandemic. Long awaited African Safaris were canceled and visitors and volunteers fled the continent.

How is the Covid-19 Pandemic impacting Africa’s wildlife?

For some wildlife the break from the endless gawking of tourists may be very welcome. Cheetah, lions, elephants and leopards frequently deal with hoards of tourists crowding them. Excited onlookers in safari vehicles press in for that unique chance to capture that coveted photo.
Though most tourists are respectful of the animals, after all we’re in their home now, some are not. Like us humans, it doesn’t feel good when our personal space is invaded.
So, for some wildlife the lack of tourists may feel really good.

However, for others, the absence of people may spell trouble.
What are the downsides for the wildlife being left alone for a season? If the wild places were really wild places things might be different. However, we’ve interfered with nature more than we may realize, even in Africa.

With the tourists and volunteers gone poaching just got easier. For one, the sheer presence of hundreds of people keeps poachers at bay. Now with the money from tourism dried up where do the funds to pay the anti-poaching rangers come from? In some reserves the anti-poaching teams are funded by tourism dollars. Luckily in others ranger scouts are supported via donations. Like Lynn’s team in Malawi.
Either way, there has never been a better time to send some money along to help protect elephant, rhino, pangolin and other vulnerable wildlife from poachers.

Elephants and other wildlife used to migrate up and down the African continent in search of food and water. Today the movement of these wild animals is limited by fences and human activity.
In many reserves water is either hauled in or pumped from bore holes to fill the water holes. During times of economic stress and upheaval like with the Covid-19 Pandemic providing water may possibly fall by the wayside.

Although feeding the wildlife is strictly prohibited in most Game Reserves and National Parks, it still happens. Monkeys, hyenas and birds hang around picnic areas and camp grounds. They watch for any morsels of food dropped or left behind.
Unfortunately, some visitors toss chunks of meat or left overs into the bush. Some feel they’re doing the wild animals a favor, while others enjoy enticing them closer. At one camp we had hyena come right along the camp perimeter to snatch the meat our ‘neighbors’ had tossed through the fence for them.
When the humans are gone some of these wild animals have become so accustom to being fed they may hang around until they starve.

How is the Covid-19 Pandemic impacting Africa’s wildlife?

Looks like it a bit of good and bad. However, listening to the wildlife experts the wildlife poaching is bound to pick up as local villagers go hungry. Others suggest that the wildlife trafficking syndicates will take advantage and ramp up.

Whatever reality is… wildlife and those who protect and preserve it deserve our help.

Amazon Reportedly Takes a New Step to More Quickly Screen for Sick Workers

Amazon reportedly has a new system to screen for sick workers.

According to a Reuters report, the Seattle-based e-tailer has begun using thermal cameras at its warehouses to identify employees who may be infected with the novel coronavirus. The cameras, which measure how much body heat a person emits, require less time than the forehead thermometers the company had previously adapted, Reuters said. Amazon did not immediately respond to FN’s request for comment.

The coronavirus has caused a spike in demand on Amazon.com for certain household products. To keep up, the company hired 100,000 new workers in less than a month. It announced plans last week to add another 75,000 people for a combination of full- and part-time roles.

But at the same time, Amazon has had to work through members of its ranks falling ill with the virus. There have been reports of workers at dozens of U.S.-based Amazon warehouses testing positive for COVID-19 — and both workers and elected officials have raised concerns regarding conditions in the facilities.

In late March, 15 workers at Amazon’s Staten Island, N.Y., warehouse participated in a demonstration with the aim to call attention to the facility’s workplace conditions after an employee tested positive for the novel coronavirus. Christian Smalls, who led the employee walkout, was fired shortly afterward, but Amazon attributed his termination to his receipt of “multiple warnings for violating social distancing guidelines.” (Smalls, Amazon said, had come into contact with a worker who tested positive for COVID-19 and was told to stay home with pay for 14 days.)

Further, five U.S. senators — including former Democratic presidential candidates Cory Booker and Kirsten Gillibrand — penned a letter to Amazon CEO Jeff Bezos earlier this month inquiring about Smalls’ firing. They also expressed concerns about short supplies of personal protective equipment following reports that the retailer had masks and gloves only in “limited quantities.”

An Amazon spokesperson told FN last week, “We have enough supply of masks for everyone in our operations network and grocery stores to last a few weeks and continue to procure more. There is a mask shortage in the world right now, so naturally we are being deliberate in our daily distributions.”

Reebok to Release Its Final Shoe Inspired by the 1986 Film ‘Aliens’

Fans of the iconic film “Aliens” will have just one more Reebok shoe to pick up.

The brand revealed its final Alien Day sneaker today, the Reebok Alien U.S.C.M. Bug Stomper, that was inspired by a character in the 1986 movie, United States Colonial Marines PFC William Hudson.

The unisex sneaker, which features an upper made with protective ballistic textile material, is executed in a military camouflage, tan and gray color palette with hits of yellow and black throughout.

It also features several Easter eggs that diehard “Aliens” fans are sure to notice and graphics inspired by the movie. They include “Eyes on Your Back” on the right heel (a nod to the back right shoulder of Hudson’s body armor), the “Death or Glory” skull and Weyland Yutani Corp logo with soldier number on the left and right insoles, respectively, a transparent hangtag that resembles the U.S.C.M. dog tags in the film and several more. It will come in premium “stealth” packaging inspired by the dropships in the film.

US Government’s $349B Emergency Small Business Loan Program Is Out of Money

The well has run dry.
The Treasury Department and Small Business Association’s Paycheck Protection Program is out of money, according to a message posted on the SBA’s site. The U.S. government had allotted an initial $349 billion pool in emergency loans for small businesses battered by the coronavirus pandemic. But Democratic and Republican lawmakers have yet to reach a deal to replenish the now-empty pot.
“The SBA is currently unable to accept new applications for the Paycheck Protection Program based on available appropriations funding,” the SBA wrote. “Similarly, we are unable to enroll new PPP lenders at this time.”
The PPP, which guarantees loans to companies and nonprofits with fewer than 500 employees, was one component of the federal government’s $2.2 trillion CARES Act, passed in late March. The act included numerous components meant to protect American jobs and inject money into the economy, such as stimulus checks for citizens, expanded unemployment benefits and mortgage deferrals for individuals and landlords.
While lawmakers are at odds on next steps, elected officials on both sides of the aisle — and economic experts — are in agreement that further steps are needed to prevent a Great Depression.
Treasury Secretary Steven Mnuchin and Democratic legislators are meeting Thursday in hopes of agreeing on a package to increase funding for the Small Business Association. The Senate is to meet for a pro forma session at 3 p.m. ET, and a deal needs to be reached prior to then in order for more funds to be allocated this week.
Where the footwear industry is concerned, Footwear Distributors and Retailers of America president and CEO Matt Priest said this week that shoe firms need immediate government action to stem the bleeding of cash.
“What we would like to see in the near term is something that doesn’t even need legislation — it’s a holiday on duty payments on imports from China,” he told FN. 
According to the FDRA, footwear companies paid $3.3 billion in footwear duties in 2019. Another boon to shoe companies, Priest said, would be more protections for retail tenants, giving them some flexibility on rent payments.
